The sage with new plate design here is getting deeper.

I thought someone was trying to hide the numbers. That’s the new design? That’s terrible! The blue on white is so much simpler, and simple design is good.

These plates look like ass on a non-blue/white car; and they didn’t even follow through with the front plate removal.
This whole thing is a complete circus.

Yeah the yellow should be painted with reflective paint like a road sign.
Wait no that’s a terrible idea.

It seems Ontario did not hear about Pennsylvania’s Flagship Niagara plate fiasco.
Even DeMuro had something to say about it.

“ We have been made aware that some Ontarians are reporting concerns with readability to the naked-eye under certain light conditions,”
I bet the Ontarians in question are probably connected to police and prosecutors in most cases.
Probably good news at least part of the time.

A terrible idea badly executed: Ontario isn't my favorite province

Looks awesome for a radar gun target...

Can’t say I’m surprised given Doug Ford’s approach to leadership and governance

That’s terrible. I wonder if the manufacturer (or one of their suppliers) messed up the reflective white (either accidentally or to save a little money ). Seems like it should work fine, but the white is both too thin and not reflective enough.

What yellow?

Aren’t the characters yellow?

You’re kidding. Please be kidding.

White:
And apparently in practice, semi-transparent since the reflected blue shines right through them.

I REALLY hope the bike plates are the same. I want something hidden for the daytona.

Obligatory smart comment from the prairies:

Ontario just seems to never get plates right.
Every day I thank god that our PCs didn’t actually manage to change our plates for political reasons like Ford did in Ontario. All the designs looked arguably even worse than Ontario’s new plates, and that’s saying something.
The new plates that we got last year that are just the old plates with an updated font do look quite good though. It’s really what they should’ve done in the first place, but the only reason they wanted to change the plates in the first place was because they said “Wild Rose Country” and the Wildrose Party were the official opposition to the PCs back in 2014, now most of the current UCP government are former Wildrose members. And the new plates still have the slogan. Figures.

They also work on black cars.

Also all B Series plates where recalled due to an issue during production. They peeled lots faster then normal.
![]() 02/17/2020 at 18:57 |

Wow! How the hell did that make it to production?

It’s real. The plate was part of a series of what PennDOT called “special interest” plates that raised funds for designated purposes. They're absolutely illegible even when standing next to them.
![]() 02/17/2020 at 19:12 |
|
PennDOT didn't bother to consider legibility. They were so used to the standard issue plates of that time (yellow on navy blue) and the previous plate style (blue on yellow) that they had forgotten that plates must be readable from a distance.
![]() 02/17/2020 at 19:12 |

They didn't help. At all.
![]() 02/17/2020 at 19:14 |

It's a shame because otherwise the plate is actually pretty and unique.

So it’s Braille compliant for our vision-impaired drivers/police. Score one for diversity and inclusion.

I can’t even.

“A place to grow” what? Potatoes? Chickens? Weed?
Actually, it’d be cool if it read “A place to grow weed” instead.

It’s been an interesting tenure, that’s for sure .
Storm the office by thunder, piss everyone off with things nobody asked for , then hide in the shadows for the rest of his term.

Sadly this is a lame attempt to be pro business:
As part of the provincial budget announced on Thursday, the government said licence plates for personal vehicles will now include the slogan “A place to grow” instead of “Yours to discover.” Plates for commercial vehicles will now include the slogan “Open for business,” a long-standing slogan used throughout the 2018 election by Premier Doug Ford.

I was actually expecting it to be worse than it has been. It seems that Doug Ford does have SOME competent people around him and does listen... eventually...
Though the recent ongoing situation with the teachers union contract still clearly shows he has a thick head.

F’N Pennsylvania bwahahaha and that’s before you get to the bad colors. This had to be designed by someone from Jersey.
